Garjia Safari Zone
Tourist visiting Corbett National Park will not have to be disappointed due to the safari seat not available or booking being full. In view of the increasing trend of tourists, the new Ringora Zone or Garjia safari zone in Corbett now started for safari from November. Girija is new safari zone being added which is now available for tourists for enjoying safari. So far tourism safari zone in Corbett National Park include Bijrani, Jhirna, Dhela, Durgadevi, Sitabani and Pakhro. Being a limited safari seats, the Corbett administration has opened the Girija tourism zone for tourists. During peak tourism season many wildlife lovers get disappointed as they do not get chance to enjoy safari. However, the practice of opening new zone was pending for a long time.
Garjia is a very popular jungle area of the picturesque Jim Corbett National Park. This tourism zone is enriched with a large variety of floral and faunal species. When the tourist's preference in terms of safari is concerned Garjia gives a tough competition to Dhikala tourism zone. The zone is popular for its wonderful landscape and it is very cool and calm place. The dense forest and its natural beauty is admired by visitors. This region is one of the most tiger reach area of the Corbett Park.
Garjia Safari zone (Ringora Safari Zone) in Corbett is highly bestowed with rich diversity of flora and fauna. Garjia is located at a suitable distance (9 Km ) from Ramnagar city is the most preferred zone for wildlife lovers. Garjia has rich population of Royal Bengal Tigers and offers a wonderful sighting to its visitors. Amdanda gate is the entrance to this zone and it consists of buffer, tourism and core areas. In one shift limited number of vehicles allowed to enter so that the natural habitats of wildlife do not get disturbed. How To Reach Garjia Safari Zone?
The entry gate to Garjia zone is Garjia gate, which is about nine kilometres away from Ramnagar city. After entering through Aamdanda gate, you cross about 5 kilometres of buffer zone before reaching the core area of Garjia ecotourism zone.
Jhirna forest rest house is with an interior of the southern limit of the Park. The rest house is on the road of Ramnagar to Kalagarh that turns in a East-West direction through the Park. The landscape is drier than in Dhikala and of the vegetation is mainly undergrowth. Jhirna was an agricultural village until 1994, date on which it was moved within the framework of the Tiger project. The hills in the north of Jhirna are covered with dense spots of bamboo. In more d' to be a good habitat for the tiger, the leopard and the stag, the place accommodates the other mammals like interesting sloth bear and the wild boar. A variety of birds can also be appreciated here.
